One of the things that I really love about Daniel/Vala is that she so obviously loves him so very much and not just loves him, but admires and respects him for who he is. He is, in essence, her HERO. And that really won me over, even more than just the mere hotness of Claudia Black and Michael Shanks together in the same room. And after Farscape, I never in a million years thought I could ship a Claudia Black character with a character played by anyone other than Ben Browder since there's so much significant chemistry and affection between the two actors, but Vala was just all about the Daniel and it seemed so right, perfect and natural that how could I ever think differently? God, I love them!
As for Rose, I can ship her with both incarnations of the Doctor, but for me it will always be about the 9th Doctor. They just really had something extraordinary and I think as actors that Eccleston and Piper really brought something out in each other. But now that I'm watching season 3, I'm surprised to learn that it turns out that Rose was my OTC. It is very rare for me to have a female OTC and I'm definitely not enjoying the show as much without her. This might just be in contrast to Torchwood though because in the Whoverse, Captain Jack has definitely become my OTC -- he's like the default fictional character of my soul -- right up there with Angel, Daniel and Crichton.
